MS Dhoni- Power Pack sealed in an Ice Cube

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the cricketer who came to into Team India without much expectations has changed the fortunes of Cricket in India and guided them to win the World Cup.I had the thought of writing an article about this person but the recently concluded India-England ODI series kindled me to write this one without postponing any further.I’ve seen cricket for about more than 10 years and I’ve rarely seen the combination of Consistency,Composure with excellent leadership skills all in the same person.

Dhoni was noticed among the people after his swashbuckling 148 against Pakistan.Way back in 2005, MS had a long colored hair then and I told my brother that day, “Okay! Its a great day for him.But he can’t withstand.”Then, in the same year he hit an explosive 183 of 145 balls chasing against Sri Lanka which came on to be the highest innings while chasing a game and this record still stands. This innings of Dhoni was described in the Wisden Almanack(2006) as, “Uninhibited, yet anything but crude”.Then, Dhoni chipped in a lot of match winning innings to become to number 1 ODI batsman for a brief period.

The 2007 World Cup was a rough patch for M S Dhoni. He was out for a duck twice and scored just 29 runs in the tournament.India was dumped in the very first round which disappointed all the fans.In the same year, India under the captain ship of Dhoni with a bunch of promising youngsters went on to win the inaugural edition of T20 World Cup.It made Dhoni to lift the T20 World Cup, 25 years after Kapil Dev did in 1983.From here on, there was no looking back for Dhoni.

Dhoni then went on to Captain India in all forms of Cricket. He’s popularly called as the Captain Cool for his composure and calmness shown during captaining the side.Dhoni, being a wicket keeper can analyse the bowlers better and has become one of the most agile keepers in the history of the game.Indian side has got a lot of spinners and batsman think twice before stepping out of the crease when Dhoni is behind!!Besides the coolness, Dhoni also has a lot of leadership qualities with him.Dhoni likes playing with the young team and always gives them the praises when they win and take the blame when the team loses.Whenever, he collects an award he gives it to the team members and stands at the back in all winning photos.

Dhoni has really transformed cricket and leadership in India and there’s lot to learn from this leader.I wish him to make another record of retaining the World Cup again 2015.
